Prosecution concludes arguments on bail plea

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune:  District Government Pleader Ujjwala Pawar on Tuesday concluded arguments against the bail application filed by suspects arrested in the Elgar Parishad case. Now the defence lawyers will present their arguments on Wednesday. The court of Special Judge KD Wadane is hearing the case.

The prosecution submitted that the accused persons have links with the banned CPI (Maoists) and that they collected funds for the organisation and also acted as courier for communication for their  members.

“They take students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) deep into the jungles to meet the Maoists and indoctrinate them,” Pawar informed the court and demanded that all the bail applications be rejected.

Nagpur-based lawyer Surendra Gadling, Rona Wilson, Mahesh Raut, Prof Shoma Sen and Sudhir Dhawle were arrested by Pune city police in June for their alleged role in organising Elgar Parishad.
